Every day we partner with parents, as well as countless individuals and organizations across San Francisco, to provide a network that strengthens and connects a diverse, resilient community around our children.

Hear from some of our founding mothers who shared their stories about the agency's origins and how the right people came together at the right time and place to form the Association of Children's Rights and Services - which soon became Wu Yee Children's Services. 

The phrase "wu yee" means "caring for children" in Cantonese, and children are at the heart of everything we do. Wu Yee's mission is to create opportunities for children to be healthy, for families to thrive and for communities to be strong. 

Founded in 1977 by social workers and parents concerned about the challenges faced by new immigrants in Chinatown, Wu Yee Children’s Services has grown to a city-scale agency serving diverse families throughout San Francisco, and is now the city’s largest provider of Head Start and Early Head Start.
